You’ll have to take a good look and make an effort to come across other holidaymakers in the surroundings of Chez l'arbe. They must be somewhere, but are playing hide-and-seek at the odd campsite or at another cottage. They hardly leave the area. You hardly will. However, if you won’t be able to stay at one place, you find a nice village -Pionsat – at a five-minute-drive. There you find a bakery, butchers, pharmacy, grocery store, café, post office and a bank with ATM. At St. Maigners (a two-minute-drive by car) you’ll find a cosy little café-restaurant where you can have a glass of wine for € 0,70!
You can take lovely walks from Chez ‘l Arbe. Route descriptions are available. Other options are mountain biking, canoeing in Europe’s clearest river waters La Sioule, horseback riding, swimming at different lakes and making trips to Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand, Montlucon and Riom. Spa’s and thermal baths you’ll find at Chateauneuf les Bains and Evaux les Bains.
During the summer there are many antique markets and weekly country fairs at Pionsat, St. Gervais d’ Auvergne and St. Eloy-les-Mines. One of France’s most beautiful music festivals in the Auvergne is “Chaise-Dieu”, which takes place in August.

Fire, water and a rich cultural heritage that is Auvergne! The beautiful silhouette of the chain of Puys and the Puy de Dôme is seen from far. More than 80 volcanoes and craters that are erupted between 100,000 and 7000 years ago, standing in line for about 40 km ..
